Sharing The Love Of Benefits

Sign Up Free And Start Earning

Last Saturday of May, I received an invite from a friend about make up. I was not into makeup though occasionally would put on some paint on my face for fun and to keep up with others. You know what I mean. When I was younger, yes, I am into makeup especially upon entering teenage years. Who would not? Teenagers go through that episode!

Anyway, the invite seems nice, a nonconformity from the original me. You know, I am a stay at home mom and being home is not at all fun for 24/7! I always ask myself if it is worth checking out or worth the time? Is this something I would like to do? Talk about being a super mom…

As it turns out, fate intervened.

I texted my friend to ask if this is going to be a monthly basis and maybe I might go next as I was not decided then. She told me it’s going to be a one-time affair. “Oh, okay. I will let you know if I come as we have a commitment that day.” I said to her. My commitment to my husband who already made plans.

Then a day before Saturday, a twist of incident occurred. We were having an argument and all I want to do is to get away from this life! I found an excuse or was I creating the argument for my excuse? The opportunity to change my mind, instead of going with our plan is to go out by myself. Without looking back, I called and made her aware I am coming that day as I am sure it is going to be fun!

The first two hours were a makeup session of course. There was Ana as the canvas of the moment – from bare face to a stunning face, showcasing the different makeup items use in contouring her face. While the makeup artist work on her canvas, one by one, someone explains how wonderful the products are and how one can use the products for personal use, share to others to earn, or even for business purposes. Each one of them who uses the products, maybe 3 of them, took turns sharing what they have experience and how it helped them. It helped them look good, not to mention the earning potential. And Mel facilitates it all as the coordinator, who also shared her experience with the company for 23 years! She drove 2 hours while another one drove for 4 hours to make this event happen. What dedication! That was amazing to know how dedicated these people are. As mentioned, they will be available for a custom blend orders the next day but for whatever reason, the place for them to stay became unavailable therefore asking the audience if they can chip in for them to stay in a hotel instead. They’re not afraid to ask for money, I talk to myself.

There were probably around 10 people when I got there. Then the finishing touch for the canvas revealed! Ana looks fierce and all made up. Two very different looks. That’s what makeup can do and I was like, would be nice to have my face made up for free. Soon, order taking begins. Everyone wants to get something but I was not interested in makeup but felt obliged to get something and I did. Is this a sign of weakness? I don’t want to buy something but have to since I see everybody seemed like they are okay with it. Am I the only playing hard to get first-timer here? I wonder. Everybody seemed to be at ease, talking about some products they have used, sharing how awesome the products are for their skin. All the positive vibes seem so good. Are they all real? I went around, asking, how long have they been using the products, their involvement from the company and to get an idea. Or am I just stupid and had to ran away from that moment at home hoping this is the best place to go and forget about the worries I have?
Last question “Is this MLM?”

On the table displays an assortment of makeup paraphernalia, accessories, from lipstick to anywhere you can cover your face. The palette of light blue, pink to dark colors, brushes of different shapes, lipsticks mostly red, and everything you need for your makeup regimen is all on the table for your taking. You can also order items you like if it’s not on display and that’s what I did. Once in a while, I hear Mel calling, “I’m available for your order” …

My thought was “What market is this?”

The second session was about health products, I believe. I better take a sip of this mochatonix while I soak the lectures. A few more people came in to listen. It started with a video about how people work hard and still struggling. Mel, started by sharing her knee issues, how the products helped her. She also shared her experience from an accident. How she was earning while recuperating from the accident, bedridden and unable to do something, yet feeling alright knowing money comes in from her business partner, a company that has been existing for 25 years. This time, the product highlighted was supplements taken in isotonic form. It was interesting.

Earlier, as I was entering the house where the business presentation is to happen, I was welcomed with a drink by the host with a drink. Hearing the word Mochatonix, combined word of Mocha and Isotonic! It tasted chocolaty and smooth, but really sweet and immediately smell the strong medicine smell. Must be the Is The house was grand, high ceiling and homey with a wall covered in wildlife decorated trophies in a 10-acre country road. I thought “He must be a hunter.”

The business part will be in two hours. We have enough time to kill. And tall Larry, the host, shared how one can save while shopping on his site. It was amazing to see how swift he was browsing on the net like a pro. Of course, he has been doing it for maybe 25 years and he is one of the millionaire’s clubs of the company! I wish to be him!

After a while of browsing, our tummies began to start complaining. We all decided to get something to eat so we can hold on to the next session, the business part. One of the ladies is doing the diet lifestyle, a 21-day challenge and is not eating but detoxing that time so she can't eat with us. That must be excruciating!  She could be the reason we end up going to the subway, for a better way of eating or a way of saying “ we are with you”. This is just my thought, no harm intended. We piled in the car, head to the subway and got our sandwiches to eat in the house.

While we were in line for our turn to order, everyone was so busy. There were 6 of us in one straight line by the cashier, casually chatting and waiting for our turn. On the other side, there were two people standing by the counter and two more came in I noticed just after we came in. Two of them were served and the Subway person who is preparing the sandwiches is getting ready to take the order for the next one. Wait! In my mind, I saw two people served and moved on. The first of the two who came before us is now being served. What about us? That’s when we found out, we were standing on the wrong side! The gentleman was nice enough to offer us to go first but of course, we refused. It is better for him to go first or he will have to wait 6 times!

The moment arrived for the business opportunity! Finally, I can’t wait to hear the best part. Two participants drove two hours to watch this business presentation. Must be good?

Larry, shared how he started, 25 years ago. He is humble yet very excited to share how it was in the beginning until the end, grabbing the millionaire spot, challenge us, the participants, how easy it is now than when he started. Now that the internet has blossomed into a humongous business; this company has started way before this internet boom and it is exciting to know. Internet has changed the way business is conducted because you can reach globally with just one click.

A Mouse In My House

A Mouse In My House

While sorting the clothes according to colors before loading them in the washer, I heard the sound of a heavy fall! I was still holding this heavy denim jacket with my hands and look around to see if something fell on the floor and found nothing. My husband loves to carry a bunch of keys and my first suspect would be keys falling off from his pants pocket. Then I heard this tiny sound scurrying in the tub. It does sound different from a key. Keys do cling and clang because it’s metal. This time the noise was smoother than a metal. Suddenly, a mouse jumps, trying to escape but failed. Oh no! A mouse in my house! My first thoughts were the words – scared, angry, and mad. I hate mouse!  angry with mouse and mad with a cat. How can a mouse survive and exist in my house when we have two cats. I feel frustrated thinking it is the cats’ responsibility to keep mouse out of the house. Life is so full of surprises; I had an encounter with a raccoon too.

Finding a way out
At that moment, watching the mouse trying to escape was a learning lesson to me. The mouse see me eye to eye, must be wondering what a giant I was in size, but did not lose faith to escape. He sees the enemy in me and went around the tub to check if there is a way out. He stays still a few times, trying to think, to escape or to fight? He jumps as many times as he can and a few times landed on one arm rest of the tub, halfway the tub, jumps again for escape but ended up back on the bottom of the tub. Had the mouse jump from the higher end of the arm rest, he would have escaped!

My heart feels for him
The mouse got my attention and felt sympathy. Maybe the mouse would be a good surprise to my daughter. The mouse changed my thoughts from anger to hmmm… might be a good idea to do something with the mouse, instead of spoiling my day because of a mouse.  So, I went to look for a container to trap the mouse in. It took me a few minutes to capture the mouse. The last thing I would do is to let the mouse crawl on me and escape through me. Besides, I do not like the feel of a mouse crawling on me.

Capturing the mouse

I got this plastic container, 12 inch deep and 6 inch wide container and uncover it. Holding the container upside down, aimed for the mouse with the opening pointing down and trap the mouse, holding the container with one hand next to the bottom of the tub. I had a hard thick paper twice the size of the opening to slide it under the opening for temporary cover.  What a perfect plan! I missed the first time and got out of the tub immediately for fear of the mouse. A giant fears a mouse?  But is true! The mouse was smart too! So desperate to escape, he ended up hiding, squeezed into the jets! I needed a stick to poke him out but instead cling tightly. I have to change my plan and the second time, I aimed it with focus onto the jets, poke him with a stick and got him in, slide the thick paper under subsequently pick up the lid to cover the container tightly. I recorded a video to see what a mouse would do when caught. It was a desperate cry for escape.

A surprise
Anyway, when my daughter came home, she was eager to see what the surprise of the day is, closes her eyes and waited patiently. The moment she opened her eyes, she was jumping with joy for she had been wishing to have a pet mouse. I ask her why, “They are so cute.” she answered. She named the mouse Brownie because of its color. We spotted a daddy long leg spider, walking so calmly, it became a meal. We trap the spider and feed it to the mouse that was happy to finish it all. The next day we noticed the smoggy look of the once clear plastic container. The mouse seemed to be quiet and inactively staying in one corner of the container. “Maybe it’s time to let it go,” I told my daughter, “before it dies in there.” Fearing the worst, my daughter agrees with me and we decided to let the mouse go. The mouse was cute but needs to be in the right place. She had a full day of fun with Brownie and it was another day in the life of a mouse in my house.

Napolea Grande , Edible Cactus

A friend introduced me this cactus plant that is edible, packed with nutrition and easy to grow cactus plant that can be seen around the neighborhood, mostly in Mexican homes. She gave me a plant so I can try it myself. She gave me two big pear shape leaf or paddle, thick, spiny and green to plant in my backyard. Since each have several paddles, broke them into more paddles to make an experiment and make sure it will grow, knowing cactus need little care. The two became 4, spread it around and wait for new leaf to grow and try it myself.

Freshly picked cactus in my garden

Harvesting and preparing the cactus is the challenging part, with it's fine hairy spine called glochids around it, if not careful could prick the skin and the green nubs that grow on the aeroles, a mole like swelling found on most cactus. Make sure to use a rubber gloves when harvesting and during the preparation. I use a knife to remove the spiny hair by slanted action, cutting each glochids one at a time or a green scrubbing pad will do the trick in removing the fine like spiny hair on the cactus while on a running water. They are slimy and boiling the cactus lessens the slime.

They are usually ready as young as they are, crunchy, tender and fresh. You can see the glossy green sheen poking out full of spine when they are very little, like 2-4 inches long, about 3/8 inch thin and eventually the spines gaps wider as cactus grows longer. Sometimes, I let them grow a little longer like 4-6 inches long or longer but not to the point where it becomes hard to eat because it is pithy. As the cactus grow bigger, you will notice that the color changes into a darker green and less sheen.

Cactus are low on carbohydrates, high on fiber and packed with vitamin C. The slimy stuff dripping off each leaf is called mucilage, may look gross, but it also may help manage the symptoms of diabetes and help lower cholesterol.

Use it whenever you like it, raw or a la carte. Barbecue it together with tri-tip, add to your omelet , make a salsa with it, of course, always sans spikes.
